Browser Storage Choices
The atlas is designed to work without advertising trackers, analytics scripts or stored contact drafts.
Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small values a website can ask your browser to retain and send with later requests. Technologies such as localStorage retain information on your device through a different mechanism. Either can have privacy implications depending on its purpose and use.
The core pages and the supplied script for this atlas do not set cookies, read or write localStorage, or load third-party analytics. The navigation menu and scroll reveals keep their state only in the current page. Any separate hosting or consent service must be assessed according to the storage it actually introduces.
What the contact tool does
| Activity | Where information goes | Persistence |
|---|---|---|
| Compose and preview | The current page on your device. | No draft is deliberately stored by our script; browser form recovery may operate separately. |
| Copy text | Your device clipboard after your action. | Controlled by your operating system and clipboard settings. |
| Download .txt | A file saved through your browser. | Remains until you delete it. |
| Email link | Your selected email application. | Subject to that application and provider. |
Cache and access records
Your browser may cache HTML, styles, scripts and images to load them efficiently. This is different from a contact draft or advertising profile. Hosting infrastructure may also process technical access information to deliver and protect the site. See Information Stewardship for the distinction between local drafting and information received by a service.
Your controls
You can inspect and clear cookies and site data in your browser’s privacy settings. You can also clear browsing history, disable form autofill, remove downloaded drafts and replace or clear clipboard contents. The precise controls depend on your browser and device.
Blocking JavaScript leaves the articles readable, but the local message composer and mobile dropdown require it. Email remains available through the footer contact link. Blocking optional storage should not be necessary to read the atlas, because the core reading experience does not depend on it.
External destinations
Following a link to an external source opens a separate service with its own practices. This site does not embed external video players, social feeds or remote font services. A link does not by itself give the linked organisation access to a locally composed draft.
